I love how this 13 year old boy, Logan LaPlante, puts the question "What do you want to be when you grow up" into perspective. He says, he wants to be healthy and happy.
If you have 11 minutes, watch his TEDx Talk about the eight principals that are incorporated into his nontraditional schooling that will ensure he is able to grow up to be as happy and healthy as he is today.
Who wouldn't want this for their kids (not necessarily the home-schooling aspect, but the attitude towards life, in general)? I think that these principals could be incorporated into my children's lives without pulling them from their traditional school setting. Activities on the weekends and in the summer, suggestions of activities for their teachers (we go to a REALLY small school), and just conversations that we have. Heck, as an adult learner, these are things that I need to incorporate into my life as well. We can all learn a little something from this 13 year old boy.
