Choose Life

Pin It I'm going to get on my soap box for just a moment, so please forgive me!

Adding 20-30 minutes of exercise into your day will not kill you. On the contrary however, not adding in the daily exercise may lead to your demise before you're ready for it. Recently, my mom landed in the ER due to an "episode" with chest pains. Luckily, she is fine and the doctor attributed the ordeal to stress.

I am constantly on my parents to start walking, to commit to doing something small every day. They live on a ranch in one of the most beautiful areas of our great state. I love being out there, breathing in the fresh air, not worrying about traffic or looking foolish (because there is NO ONE out there)!

My mom has a million excuses of why she doesn't fit exercise into her daily routine. My husband always says, "you can find endless reasons not to exercise, you just have to find one reason TO exercise." My reason that I give my parents is this: choose life; choose to add 7 years to your life, or 10 years. Choose to see your grand children get married, choose to meet your great grand children. Choose me, my brother, and my sister.

Now, is it just me or do all of those things trump, "I'm so tired, it's late when I get home, I can't get up that early, I'm so hungry when I get home..."

Until Next Time,
Meg

  1. Arghh, such a great post. Now I feel like I HAVE to get on the treadmill.

So sorry for the mom scare - that's never easy.
