Current Obsession

Pin It Okay, so I subscribe to the e-newsletter Vital Juice that has all the latest in workouts, products, celebrity news, etc. I read about Tracy Anderson and her 30 Day Method and had the desire to try something new.

For those of you who are not familiar, Tracy Anderson is the trainer for such celebrities as Gwyneth Paltrow and Courtney Cox. She says that just because you're born pear shaped, doesn't mean that you can't change your body type. She has a book called The 30 Day Method that is a boot camp type workout and diet plan that you follow for 30 days.

I've become a runner in the recent years mostly because my husband is an avid runner (2 time Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier) and he inspires me. But for those of you who run, you know that winter is a very tough time to get motivated to put in miles in the miserable cold. I'm a big wimp about cold weather and resort to the treadmill from October - April or so. This year, I just can't handle running on the treadmill, staring mindlessly at the wall, watching the minutes go slowly by during each painful mile.

So, I purchased the Tracy Anderson 30 Day Method book and DVD from my local book store and am now on day 12 of the 30 day boot camp. I'm not sure if it's working, but I am sore almost everyday! The idea is to do one set of mat exercises for 10 days then change to a different set. It keeps your muscles from getting too used to one move and learning how to compensate.

I'll let you know how it goes on my quest to become a "tiny dancer" (well, maybe just a toned mom of 2)! Oh, and BTW, I am not doing the eating plan that is also recommended in the book. It seems a little too low in calorie count for me and a little too time consuming as well, though the recipes are really great!

Until Next Time,
Meg

  1. Oh! I'm so glad you're trying the 30 day method. I wanted to try that too. I wasn't sure how it worked and I read on Amazon that the meal plan was difficult to keep up with.

I love to run as well, but I suck at it and getting out there is tough definitely when it's this cold!

  2. I think the meal plan would be more feasible if I didn't have kids. I am not a mom that makes a different meal for me than what I make for the entire family and I don't see my kids eating some of the items that Tracy has on the meal plan. Also, the final 3 days of the food plan is a cleanse and I'm just not a cleanse girl!

The workout is awesome though and I think when I'm done, I'll look into some of her other DVDs. I'll keep you posted on my progress!
